After School Options Through White Plains Youth Bureau

Madhu Kumar, a biological scientist with degrees from University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is also a mentor with the White Plains Youth Bureau (WPYB). Mentors like Madhu Kumar are placed with mentees whom they volunteer with one hour a week through WPYB’s counseling and leadership program.

Another important service offered by WPYB is After School Connection, a childcare option for working parents that provides children with opportunities to learn and grow. After School Connection is open for children from kindergarten through 8th grade, and aims to be a friendly and supportive environment. Activities are planned by trained and professional staff that assist in children’s intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. The program is open until 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and costs $40 per month.

In addition, WPYB offers the After School Connection Vacation Camp, which is open to elementary school students from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during winter and spring recesses.
